Looking for sponsors? Sponsors should be looking for you? WHY?

According to the 2011 Meaningful Brands survey–which spoke to 50,000 consumers in France, Spain, the U.K., Germany, Italy, Mexico, Brazil, Colombia, Chile, Argentina, China, Japan, India, and the U.S.–

• More than half (51%) of consumers want to reward responsible companies by shopping there;
• 53% would pay a 10% premium for products from a responsible company
• 85% of consumers want companies to be engaged on global issues, but only 22% think that companies do a good job with this already.

When a brand proves that it supports a good cause, people will not only buy more from this brand, they will switch to it!

That means that a sponsor has a lot to gain by partnering with you.

But you have to be able to prove that the sponsorship is worth it. You have to be able to show that your cause can help them make more sales, get a new brand or product known, and can reach their intended customers. How do you find out what they want? And how do you know who their intended customers are? You start by doing some research.

This week, we’ll be talking about how to reach the right sponsors for you. Not every company is right for your nonprofit, but with careful research and these worksheets, you’ll be primed to succeed as you go after the RIGHT sponsors.
